Description of Duties
Responsible operation of equipment used to treat, test, and transfer water or wastewater. Prepares reports concerning Wastewater Treatment Plant Lab operations, performance, and maintenance; Creates detailed reports for management regarding detailed activities and compliance measures taken; Records and analyzes collected data. Responsible for ensuring that all reclaimed water is utilized properly as per NAWSC and TCEQ guidelines and that all laboratory testing is performed on the reclaimed water; Collects samples while monitoring and enforcing compliance at all times; Ensures that waste water tests are being collected, run, and recorded as per all regulatory guidelines; Maintains the lab and all instrumentation, and oversees the inventory of lab chemicals; instruments and equipment; Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs; Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures. A self-starting individual who possesses a High School Diploma or G.E.D and a valid Texas driver license. Must be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter. Must be willing to work towards successful attainment of a Certificate of Competency from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for Grade D Waste Water within twelve months of hire, and then work towards attainment of Grade C Waste Water, and would be required to maintain certification thereafter. Strong communication skills are required in order to effectively present information to employees and management of the Corporation. Must be fluent in English (written and verbal). Mathematics skills are required in order to apply data to formulas that determine treatment requirements, flow levels, and concentration levels. Must possess good judgment as well as exercise discretion in the performance of daily duties. Must be well groomed (no beards), as the position requires the use of a safety gas mask. Must be able to work a flexible and rotating work schedule during the workweek and occasional weekends and have the ability to be on call 24 hours a day. Position requires the handling of various chemicals such as chlorine, alum, ammonia, lime, and other acids and reagents. Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as toxic or caustic chemicals. May work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions where exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration may exist. The noise level is generally loud in this environment. It is recommended to obtain immunization against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B.Application
