Purchasing Assistant

Description of Duties

Responsible for assisting the Purchasing Agent with administrative tasks.  Assist the Purchasing Agent in ensuring that the purchases of the organization are done in accordance with the purchase order procedures.  Works with Purchasing Agent, managers, and vendors to help procure the best possible purchase outcomes for the corporation.  Reviews orders for accuracy and billing.  Works side-by-side with department managers to assist in the interpretation of procurement policies and procedures as needed.  Will assist the Purchasing Agent with project overlays and for maintaining an accurate reporting of purchases made in accordance with corporate projects.  Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs.  Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures.  Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

A self-starting individual who possesses a High School Diploma or GED.  Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills are essential.  PC literacy and knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software are required.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).  Must have demonstrated problem solving skills.  Flexibility, professionalism, ability to work in a highly stressful environment, and perform a variety of tasks with numerous interruptions is essential.  Attention to detail and a high degree of mental concentration are required.  Good organizational, interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills are required in order to effectively communicate with employees, management, the board of directors and the public.   Problem solving and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.

Preferences

Prior experience working in procurement or purchasing is preferred.
