General Accountant

Description of Duties

Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.  Perform monthly reconciliations of numerous general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, including various accounts receivable and payable accounts.  Conduct and develop the activity necessary for interaction and recording of selective transactions between the Accounts Receivable software and the customer service reps and general ledger.  Assist with the preparation of the Board of Director’s Financial Package, the Annual External Audit, the Annual Budget, Monthly Account Reconciliations, and Financial Statement Development and Presentation.  Participate in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs.  Comply with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures.  Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

A self-starting individual who possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.  Two to three years prior accounting experience is required.  Strong experience with general ledger, month-end close, account analysis, and account reconciliation is required.   Must possess good written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.  Problem solving and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.  Visual and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks, working at a computer for long periods of time in a fast-paced environment and handling frequent interruptions.  Must be able to occasionally lift boxes of 10 – 25 pounds in weight.  Position requires extended periods of sitting in front of a computer which may result in visual eye strain.

Preferences

Prior experience working with account reconciliations and account analysis is preferred.
