Description of Duties
Assists the Planning & Development Manager with the oversight of the construction of new installations and other types of construction work to ensure that procedures and materials comply with the plans and specifications. Coordinates water tie-ins with the construction crews; assisting in the opening and closing of valves, flow control, and customer notifications. Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions for all installations and layouts. Creates reports and completes required regulatory compliance documentation as needed. Creates detailed sketches or notes, and coordinates bacteriological tests. Inspects materials to be used in new construction and for bedding for pipelines. Interprets blueprints and specifications for the contractor, and works with the Planning and Development Manager to address any recommended deviations from specified construction plans to ensure compliance with all regulations. Keeps the Planning & Development Manager apprised at all times regarding project progress and any deviation from original plans. Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs; Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures. A self-starting individual who possesses a high school diploma or GED and at least two years prior work experience in a related position. Must possess a current Texas Driver License and must be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter. Must obtain a Type I Waste Water Collection Operator License, Class C Water Distribution License, and a Customer Service Inspector license through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within 12 – 18 months of hire. Must also be current with TCEQ required coursework required for the position. Must have good communications skills, in order to effectively present information to employees and management of the Corporation. Must be fluent in English (written and verbal). Must have strong familiarity and working knowledge of blueprints and all rules and regulations pertaining to water supply corporation construction and installations. Must possess good judgment as well as exercise discretion in the performance of daily duties. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the workweek with occasional weekends or late hours as needed. Must have the ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level associated with this position is generally loud.Preferences
Prior experience working with a water supply corporation or public utility is preferred.Application
