Description of Duties
Assists the Production Superintendent with the daily operations of the water plants (to include work procedures, preparation of work schedules, determining electronic and manual routes, and expedition of workflow) and personnel. Works with the Production Superintendent to ensure that the water plant facilities improve efficiency and meet regulatory certification requirements. Trains personnel in the operation and maintenance of water plant equipment and machinery, and demonstrates operation of machines and equipment. Assists the Production Superintendent with the guidance and instruction of the water plant employees in proper laboratory techniques, record keeping, safety measures and care of plant facilities collection systems. Administers various tests and maintains records for the organization and the regulatory agencies. Works with the Production Superintendent and Human Resources to address and resolve employee grievances and issues. Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs. Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures. A self-starting individual who possesses a High School Diploma or G.E.D and an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Science, Business, or another related discipline as is relevant to the position (prior experience may be substituted for college education requirement). At least 6 years prior experience as a Water Plant Operator is required. Must have a valid Texas driver license and be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter. Must have current Class C Surface Water License license through Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and be willing to work towards attainment of the Class B Surface Water and eventually and eventually the Class A Surface Water licenses in the future. If hired, will be required to also complete all TCEQ required training and classes for the Plant Operator Supervisor position. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Knowledge of all current laws and regulations regarding the water treatment industry is required. PC literacy and knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software are required. Must have demonstrated problem solving skills. Flexibility, professionalism, ability to work in a highly stressful environment, and perform a variety of tasks with numerous interruptions is essential. Attention to detail and a high degree of mental concentration are required. Good organizational, interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills are required in order to effectively communicate with employees, management, the board of directors and the public. Problem solving and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. Must be able to occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs., and frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs. Position requires the employee to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).Application
