GIS Specialist

Description of Duties

Uses the Corporate geographic information system technology to compile and display digital data use by various departments.  Uses computer programs to create detailed maps and drawings that contain multiple layers of geographical information that aid in engineering, construction, etc.     Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs.  Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures.  Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

A self-starting individual who possesses a high school diploma or G.E.D. and an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in GIS Technology, geomatics, environmental science or a related field is required.   Relevant work experience may be substituted for college education requirement.  Must have at least 2 years prior experience with GIS mapping software and computer mapping.  Must possess a current Texas Driver License and must be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter.   Must possess good written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.  Problem solving and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.    Must have strong knowledge of technical design applications.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.  Visual and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks, working at a computer for long periods of time in a fast paced environment and handling frequent interruptions.     Position requires extended periods of sitting in front of a computer.  Position requires extended periods of sitting in front of a computer.

Preferences

Prior work experience of at least 4 years is preferred.
