Field Supervisor

Description of Duties

At the direction of the Assistant Distribution Superintendent, works with the Crew Foremen to direct the activities of the crew working with construction projects for the corporation. Works with the Crew Foremen to carry out the plan procedures for the projects, and ensures that the staffing requirements for each phase of the plan are established and met. Along with the Distribution Superintendent and Assistant Distribution Superintendent, will assemble various players in the construction project (foremen, sub-contractors, engineering, etc.) at the start of a project to layout the groundwork and expectation for the project. Assists in the procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at different times/phases of the project to ensure timeliness of completion. Confers with crew members and sub contracts to resolve complaints and issues that arise during the course of the project. Reports back to the Assistant Distribution Superintendent daily on any issues that may arise regarding the project, or any anticipated change in the project timeline. Inspects the crew’s work to ensure adherence to the corporation’s standards, and reports in with the Distribution Superintendent daily to relay project progress. Reviews project progress, materials, and cost and adjust work schedules as needed as indicated by the review. Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs; Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures. Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

A self-starting individual who possesses High School diploma or GED and at least three years prior experience as a Crew Foreman or a related position. Must be able to read, write, and follow written instructions. Must possess a current Texas Driver License and must be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter. Must have a Type I Waste Water License, Class C Water Distribution License, and a Customer Service Inspection license through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Must also be current with the following schools: Utility Safety, Unit I Basic Water, Unit 5 Distribution, Shoring School, Waste Water I & II, and Customer Service Inspection. Must have good communications skills, in order to effectively present information to employees and management of the Corporation. Must be fluent in English (written and verbal). Basic mathematics skills are required (addition and subtraction of two digit numbers / multiplication and division by tens and hundreds) when calculating for monetary purposes or weight measurement. Must possess good judgment as well as exercise discretion in the performance of daily duties. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the workweek and must be on call 24 hours a day. Position requires the ability to work submerged in water and mud as needed in order to repair or install pipe and install or find water meters. Position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and balance. Must have the ability to frequently life and/or move items up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level associated with this position is generally loud.


Prior experience working with a water supply corporation or public utility is preferred.
