2011 Newsletter
Dear North Alamo Member:
I have the pleasure of introducing myself to you as the new General Manager for North Alamo WSC. My name is Steven Sanchez and I have been with North Alamo for 34 years. In May, 2010 the Board of Directors appointed Dennis Goldsberry (Board President) as Interim General Manager after the loss of our previous manager, Charles “Chuck” Browning, which was a huge loss to the water industry. At the August 2010 meeting is when I was appointed manager.
I and my staff stand ready to full fill our Mission Statement:
“The mission of the North Alamo Water Supply Corporation is to provide the highest quality of water and wastewater service with adequate flow and pressure for the lowest possible price.”
Please feel free to contact our office with any concerns you have or may have experienced.
The following are updates on all our projects since our last newsletter.
Project: Hidalgo County Empowerment Zone Phase I
This project was completed in the spring of 2010. Six miles of 12” water lines were laid, and a 500,000 gallon elevated water tank was constructed.
Project: Santa Rosa Project
This project was kicked off in January of 2010. It will lay over 20 miles of water lines around the City of Santa Rosa. We hope to have this project completed by the end of this summer.
Project: Delta Regional Water Plant
This is a four million gallon a day water plant. It is proposed to be built just north of Edcouch and Elsa. We are working on finalizing all legal documents for this project.
Project: Donna Reverse Osmosis Plant
This is a two million gallon a day reverse osmosis water treatment plant. This plant is being built at our plant #5 facility just north of Donna. We hope to have this plant up and running this summer.
Project: Pay Station, and On-Line Payments
In the fall of 2010 we entered into an agreement, which will now allow our customers to make payments at all HEB and Walmart stores. This will also include other participating pay stations. Please contact our office for any questions regarding this new service.
As for on-line payments, we signed an agreement to get this service started. We hope to have on-line payment service for our customers this spring.
Project: North San Juan Wastewater Service
This past year we took over wastewater services for about 550 connections from the City of San Juan. The area is north of Sioux Road, west of Cesar Chavez Road, south of Nolana Loop, and east of Raul Longoria Road. By doing this project we were able to cap the wastewater bill at $33.80 for our customers in the area involved. Prior to this the more water our customers used the higher the wastewater bill would be.
At this year’s annual meeting, there will be an election held for the terms of three board members. The nominating committee met and nominated the following persons:
District 1 – Abdiel Cuevas
District 2 – Michael England
District 3 – Ray Yeary
As usual, at this year’s annual meeting, we will have a drawing to give away a used Ford Ranger pick-up truck. Everyone who returns a proxy card or is in attendance at the meeting will be eligible for the drawing, except for board members and employees of the Corporation.
The Board of Directors, management and employees here at North Alamo WSC appreciate your past support and we look forward to serving you this coming year. I encourage you to use our website (www.nawsc.com) for information on any of our services.
Sincerely,
North Alamo Water Supply Corporation
Steven P. Sanchez
General Manager
